IsshinRyu

Isshinryu Karate means The school (ryu) of united (is) hearts (shin)

It is a traditional Okinawian Karate school based on the concepts of authentic spiritual progress and on realism in conceiving a fight.
The vast technical curriculum and the multitude of ways of approaching it makes this school of Martial Arts an opened system for all those who wish to follow a path of self-accomplishment and knowledge expansion.
Isshinryu has a complete arsenal of strikes and blocks with hands and legs as well as other parts of the human body used as defensive or offensive weapons. There are also way many other techniques like keys, throws, joint locks, strangles, techniques of ground fighting (toide or tuite), acupuncture points stimulation, specific exercises of conditioning or health maintenance, traditional weapons of Kobudo (staff, sai, tonfa, nunchaku, two short staffs - nitanbo, kama).
Generally, these procedures are specific to Isshinryu and make the difference between us and the similar or homonymous of Aikido, JuJutsu, Ninjutsu, AikiJutsu, Wrestling or freestyle grappling.
The system of fighting in the Dojos and competition is full contact mixfight type (allowing contact strikes to use head strikes and also ground fighting). Everyone who practice Isshinryu are allowed to participate also at kickboxing or point fighting bouts.
The technical progress is not presumed to stop at 1 or 3-dan rank to just follow a didactic commitment, but is continuous, because the practitioner always have something to new learn. Degrees reflects the individual progress both physical and spiritual progress and the exams can be considered as initiation tests; the individuals committing have to demonstrate apart the technical accomplishment and fighting abilities a tremendous tenacity.
The degrees and belts of Isshinryu are recognized internationally. Isshinryu is the school of martial arts with the largest number of grandmasters holding a 10-dan rank. Surprisingly, even though ageing, these masters still bring an active contribution to the development of Isshinryu.
In Romania Isshinryu is practiced since 1998, and is established as being an independent style by the present-time chief instructor Andrei Trandaf, appointed as branch chief for Romania with 3-dan degree.
